Bluesounds FlagshipPosted onOwned the Node 2i previously. The Icon is on a much different level and that was apparent immediately after listening. Low noise, very articulate, the dual Sabre dacs are so clean and detailed. Highly recommended!
-
OutstandingPosted onI have been through most of the Bluesound streamers. I have liked all of them. Most recently running a Node2i with upgraded power supply through a Denafrips Ares II. This set up sounded great, but the Icon takes the sound to a whole new level! Very happy!!

Good so farPosted onI’ve had my Node Icon one day & to say I was disappointed was an understatement….until I connected it to my Amp with an optical cable. Previously i was using the RCA cables that came with it. Terrible. Muffled & variable gain even with smart gain activated.
The optical cable transformed it! Level gain for most tracks. Good detail so far. I use Apple Music & Spotify. I’m loving it. The user interface is easy. Recommended so far…. -
Wow!Posted onLong tern Bluesound user. I will only talk about the sound quality of the ICON compared to the NODE 130 (2021). The ICON is currently running on a Audiolab 8300a via Audioquest XLR interconnects (Yukon) and a Audioquest Z2 C-7 power cable. It is replacing a NODE 130 that was attached to the Audiolab using similar Audioquest cables (Yukon RCA)..
Simply put the ICON is better in every way. It plays bigger and goes deeper. The blacker background illuminated subtlety and nuance. The extra information revealed is not accompanied by brightness or forwardness. I will not attempt to quantify the improvement over the NODE - but, without doubt, the ICON is on a different level. Of course, this assumes your gear and room allow you to hear the differences. Well done Bluesound. -
Much better than expectedPosted onI used to have a streamer, similar to a Node 130 with Chord Mojo as DAC, then decided to simplify my life and get a one box solution and the choice was the Icon, the system is fairly simple a Naim Nait50 with a Rega P3, and Audio Note AN-K Lx speakers and an "old Linn Mimik CD Player.
The result was amazing, pure silence between notes, clarity and detail, and an overall musical player, so good that the diference between Spotify an Tidal became narrower...
Very pleased with the purchase. -
AmazedPosted onBeen with Bluesound since Beginning 1st gen Node , 1st gen Vault, then second gen Node and Node x. The Icon definitely surpasses them all with extra connectivities. Completely amazed how it sounds. And now Bluesound offers Dirac. Awesome..
Want to add Thank You Bluesound!!! for your Service over the years. -
Aanrader.
(I previously had good experience with the Bluesound Node N130. After upgrading my speakers, I was ready for a new streamer. The Bluesound Icon N530 exceeds my expectations and I was able to compare it with streamers in the higher price range (A8), where the sound of the Icon exceeds it. Top equipment, top quality and top sound! Recommended.) -
WonderfulPosted onBought this as soon as it became available. Initial impression was lukewarm, definitely needed a 20-50 hour break in. But then. I gotta say, wow! Detail extraction superb, soundstage including depth, truly class leading, breathtaking. I’m gonna be reevaluating my benchmark 3 dac, this icon is so much more musical. And I haven’t yet performed the Dirac correction yet!

Fantastic!.Posted onI've had bluesound node powernode 2i and the node 130 all reasonable performers but the node icon is on another level. I have the icon connected to my Hegel H190 through XLR connections speakers are Dali menuet se. The dac in the icon sounds wonderful smooth detailed very insightful much better than the Hegel's dac. Bluesound are on to a definite winner with this machine especially at the price point. Well done bluesound .

Too quietPosted onLack of gain is crazy, to point of my having volume of Icon at 100% and my preamp at 100% and my 200 watt amp struggles to output 10 watts to my 86 db sensitivity speakers which is conversation volume. Bass is noticably tubby with loss of overtone articulation with my RELs and trebles certainly don't sparkle. Sound stage is flattened in depth. I can't listen for very long before I turn off due to fatigue. I've removed all HDMI and optical sources and only use for low volume background streaming where I am not in sweet spot to enjoy music. Still sounds better with computer feeding stand alone DAC.
Surprisingly, I was highly disappointed overall in this my first stand alone streamer. Demoted to garage hobby area with home built amp and crappy speakers. I could have bought cheaper unit.
