The result is a great sounding device. I would describe it as a network streamer with refined dynamics and a variety of in/output terminals with Dirac Live, but everything comes with some limitations.
For example, there are some unnecessary limitations such as the inability to power off, the inability to select DAC filters, the inevitable ground loop issue that users with XLR connections have to deal with, the inability to user-adjust the gain of the headphone output, and the simultaneous output of RCA and XLR.

Been listening to Hires music for more than 7 years (Tidal), mainly through a Pro-Ject DAC and can only say the voices cuts right through the music with instruments more defined and clear. My Martin Logan Spire speakers love the transients! Listening a lot to classical music that now comes with more depth and ambience! A winner!

This unit knocks the ball out of the park! Bluesound definitely has their priorities straight. Sound and user interface are excellent. Dual mono topology with 2 high end DAC chips, Dirac ready, and balanced outputs in a $1000 unit ( before tariffs, anyway) is outstanding.
The box is well built but not garish. No touch screen? Who needs it when the UI is so good? They didn't spend a lot on fluff, they put the money where it matters. So smart.

Owned the Node 2i previously. The Icon is on a much different level and that was apparent immediately after listening. Low noise, very articulate, the dual Sabre dacs are so clean and detailed. Highly recommended!

I have been through most of the Bluesound streamers. I have liked all of them. Most recently running a Node2i with upgraded power supply through a Denafrips Ares II. This set up sounded great, but the Icon takes the sound to a whole new level! Very happy!!

I’ve had my Node Icon one day & to say I was disappointed was an understatement….until I connected it to my Amp with an optical cable. Previously i was using the RCA cables that came with it. Terrible. Muffled & variable gain even with smart gain activated.
The optical cable transformed it! Level gain for most tracks. Good detail so far. I use Apple Music & Spotify. I’m loving it. The user interface is easy. Recommended so far….

Long tern Bluesound user. I will only talk about the sound quality of the ICON compared to the NODE 130 (2021). The ICON is currently running on a Audiolab 8300a via Audioquest XLR interconnects (Yukon) and a Audioquest Z2 C-7 power cable. It is replacing a NODE 130 that was attached to the Audiolab using similar Audioquest cables (Yukon RCA)..

Simply put the ICON is better in every way. It plays bigger and goes deeper. The blacker background illuminated subtlety and nuance. The extra information revealed is not accompanied by brightness or forwardness. I will not attempt to quantify the improvement over the NODE - but, without doubt, the ICON is on a different level. Of course, this assumes your gear and room allow you to hear the differences. Well done Bluesound.

I used to have a streamer, similar to a Node 130 with Chord Mojo as DAC, then decided to simplify my life and get a one box solution and the choice was the Icon, the system is fairly simple a Naim Nait50 with a Rega P3, and Audio Note AN-K Lx speakers and an "old Linn Mimik CD Player.
The result was amazing, pure silence between notes, clarity and detail, and an overall musical player, so good that the diference between Spotify an Tidal became narrower...
    Very pleased with the purchase.
