Firmware update for BluOS

New BluOS firmware, version 2.10, includes Dolby Digital 2.1 Downmix, KKBOX, Roon integration, and Enhanced Wireless Player Setup.

CES 2017, Las Vegas, NV, January 4, 2017 – BLUESOUND, a leading manufacturer of premium wireless multi-room hi-res music systems, today announced that it is making BluOS™ firmware upgrades to its popular line of wireless hi-res speakers and digital music players. BluOS version 2.10, available for upgrade on all Bluesound Players by January 31, 2017, supports a number of feature updates including Dolby Digital® 2.1 downmix for the PULSE SOUNDBAR, integration of the KKBOX® music streaming service, Roon® integration, and a new enhanced setup process that makes adding Bluesound to your home network easier.

With Dolby Digital now supported, the PULSE SOUNDBAR will use our advanced DSP technology to decode and downmix cinematic soundtracks into discrete left and right channels, allowing users to enjoy the immersive sound of their favorite TV shows and movies. Also, through the introduction of KKBOX, users in select regions of Asia can enjoy millions of songs that can easily be streamed to Bluesound Players through a home network, either Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with simple control on any smartphone, tablet or desktop PC using the BluOS Controller App.

“We are excited to roll out this new upgrade for Bluesound and BluOS-enabled Players, as we continue to evolve our critically acclaimed wireless hi-res ecosystem and put music quality first,” said John Banks, Chief Brand Officer of Bluesound. “Our user base is continuing to grow, with hundreds of new Players being turned on daily across the world, and we look forward to continuing to improve the platform in the future with cutting-edge features and technology.”

The new and enhanced Player setup for smartphone and tablet provides comprehensive out of the box value, making the Bluesound setup experience remarkably simple and easier than ever before. BluOS can detect if new Players require Wi-Fi set up on a home network, and will walk users through a rich, intuitive, guided interface. Additional setup features include a guided pairing process when pairing a PULSE SUB with a PULSE SOUNDBAR.

In addition to these updates, BluOS 2.10 will also now feature support for Roon and become the world’s first wireless high-res multi-room music system to act as a RoonReady® streaming endpoint. Roon subscribers using Bluesound will be able to connect their Players to Roon’s intuitive, information-rich music library management software and stream high-resolution music to one or many Bluesound Players simultaneously.

RoonReady is the highest level of Roon integration available to playback partners, and means that Roon technology is actually customized for, and embedded into, Bluesound Players. It’s a designation given to audio player hardware products that have both implemented Roon Advanced Audio Transport (RAAT) and have been certified by Roon Labs for proper implementation.

Bluesound is a smart music system of audiophile-grade wireless speakers and digital players, that allow you to stream music from a library stored on your home network and many popular music streaming services. All controlled with a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, users can experience true high-resolution music in any room of the home, wirelessly. Bluesound is available at authorized audio retailers in countries all over the world; or direct from Bluesound at www.bluesound.com.

Starting January 31, users will need to upgrade their Bluesound Players to software version 2.10.0 or higher and download the updated BluOS Controller App for smartphone, tablet and desktop PC. BluOS fully supports High Resolution Audio, as well as all popular lossless and lossy codecs. It also features seamless integration with common smart home controllers like Control4, Crestron, and RTI, among others. BluOS-enabled devices can be controlled with a free app available for smartphones, tablets and desktop.
